Located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, Maryville College is one of America’s oldest colleges. In 1819, Rev. Isaac Anderson founded Southern and Western Theological Seminary (later to be chartered as “Maryville College” in 1842) to train ministers and churches in the new frontier. Maryville College’s mission is to prepare students for lives of citizenship and leadership as they challenge each one to search for truth, grow in wisdom, work for justice and dedicate a life of creativity and service to the peoples of the world. Rev. Isaac Anderson always urged his students to, “do good on the largest possible scale.”
It is because of that heritage and vision, that Ratio Christi is proud to serve Maryville College and its student body with integrity, scholarship, and respect through thoughtful Christianity. We aim to transforming lives on campus today, changing culture tomorrow.
