Apathy, Deconstruction, and Jesus: How to have better conversations about Christianity

September 12 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Free

Maybe your coworker is simply disinterested in learning about God and your friend has recently deconstructed from her faith. Perhaps these statements sound familiar:

“I am not against Christianity, I just don’t really care”

“I used to be a Christian, but then I found I couldn’t believe it anymore.”

“I have questions and doubts about my faith and no one seems to have good answers”

What do you say? How do you navigate these sorts of tough conversations without being pushy, defensive or argumentative?

In today’s culture, we see two difficult movements to engage with: those who are largely apathetic to Christianity and Jesus and those who have found themselves walking away from Christianity. If there is someone in your life that fits into those boxes that you’re struggling to know how to reach, this workshop is for you.

This is a hands-on interactive workshop for anyone that wants to learn how to engage with their friends more winsomely and convincingly in a constantly changing culture. There will be interactive discussions, real world scenarios, question and answer time as well as very practical teaching. Come with your tough questions and get ready to dive into it!

Topics include:

  • Understanding why people doubt or deconstruct and how Jesus would respond.
  • Bringing your friend from “I don’t care about Jesus” to “I want Christianity to be true, and I want to examine it”
  • Helping your friend use critical thinking as they deconstruct without being pushy.
  • How to share facts and evidence for Christianity without being the ‘well actually’ guy.
  • How to ask better questions and listen for the real reasons for someone’s doubts.
  • Some do’s and don’ts of Evangelism and Apologetics
  • Live Q&A: Bring your toughest questions and real-life situations.

Lunch will be provided at no cost for those who sign up ahead of time, but feel free to join even if you don’t.

Training is provided by Noah Myers who has been working in campus ministry doing apologetics for over 10 years. He has an undergraduate degree in Philosophy from Colorado State and a Master of Arts in Apologetics from Southern Evangelical Seminary. Noah is just finishing up publishing a small group curriculum on Apologetics which you can sign up for more information about here.

IMPORTANT: This is a FREE event. However, registration is required.
